Dr. Jon Weidanz, Associate Vice President for Research and Innovation at UT Arlington, served as a featured speaker at the Systems Thinking in Biology Symposium hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas on October 24, 2025. His presentation, titled “The Expanding Role of MHC/Peptide Targets for Precision Therapies,” offered key insights into molecular targeting strategies in personalized medicine. UTA Partners with Boehringer Ingelheim for Innovation Award Event in Houston

On October 2, 2025, Boehringer Ingelheim, in partnership with The University of Texas at Arlington, hosted the Innovation Award and Networking Reception at the TMC3 Collaborative Building in Houston. The event featured a dynamic poster session, startup pitches, and a panel discussion focused on biotech investment and collaboration.

Five finalists competed for the prestigious Innovation Award, which includes lab space at Portal Innovations @ Helix Park. The evening fostered meaningful connections and celebrated emerging biotech talent across Texas.

Dr. Jon Weidanz Honored for Patent Achievement at Annual UTA/NAI Reception

At the Annual UTA Chapter of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Reception, Dr. Jon Weidanz was recognized for his outstanding contributions to innovation through the awarding of a patent. The event, held at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Development (CETD), celebrated the achievements of UTA inventors and researchers who are driving progress in science and technology. Dr. Weidanz’s recognition highlights the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and commercialization in academic research.

Shaping the Future of Life Science Workforce in North Texas

On June 11, 2025, the BioNTX Facilities Advisory Committee hosted an engaging session at the Texas Research Quarter, bringing together voices from manufacturing, higher 1education, and K–12 STEM education. The focus: how we’re shaping the education and training infrastructure to support the next generation of life science professionals. This cross-sector discussion explored how collaboration is aligning classroom learning with industry needs—positioning North Texas as a national hub for biomanufacturing and biotech innovation.

UT Arlington and Texas A&M to Launch Biomanufacturing Hub at Dallas’ Pegasus Park

The new center at Bridge Labs will train the workforce powering North Texas’ biotech boom—helping startups speed therapies, vaccines, and breakthrough biologics from lab bench to patients. Funded in part by Lyda Hill Philanthropies, the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing Satellite Campus is set to open this summer.
